Frequently Asked Questions
DegreeWorks audits are available to current students pursuing degree and certificate programs. Students must complete and submit a Graduation Application to Enrollment Services the term prior to graduation. Students will be notified of their graduation status.
What If Audits
- Q: What is the “What If” feature?
A: The “What If” function allows you to hypothetically change your program. The “What If” audit will show you what coursework is required for the new program, what courses you have taken that satisfy requirements, and what courses are still left for you to take.
- Q: I want to change my major. How can I see what would be required if I made this change?
A: You can use the “What If” option on the Audits tab to do an audit using criteria you select. Please be sure to select a Degree, Academic Year and Major. “What If” audits do not guarantee that you will be able to major in the area you select. If you decide you would like to change your major, complete a Change of Major Form and submit the form to Enrollment Services.
- Q: If I use the “What If” feature does it mean I have changed my major?
A: No. The “What If” function is for information purposes only. You will see the header “What If Audit” displayed at the top of the audit whenever an audit is run on a “What If” scenario.
- Q: Can I view multiple “What If” scenarios on the same screen?
A: To ensure accuracy, you should run one “What If ” with one major at a time.
- Q: Can I save or print a “What If” scenario?
A: “What If” plans are not saved on DegreeWorks. However, after making your selections, click “Save as PDF” to run the “What If” audit and save. You can print your “What If” scenario to share with your advisor.
The GPA displayed on the GPA Calc tab will not include any courses completed summer 1988 and earlier.
- Q: What does the Graduation Calculator show?
A: The Graduation Calculator option on the GPA Calc tab will display your current GPA. You may enter the Remaining and Required Credits for your degree program and your Desired GPA. The result will display the average GPA you will need to maintain on the remaining hours to reach your Desired GPA.
- Q: What does the Term Calculator (Includes Current Term) show?
A: The Term Calculator (includes current term) option on the GPA Calc tab will show an estimate of your cumulative GPA. The cumulative GPA excludes credit not taken at JSCC. DegreeWorks will pull in your current earned credits and GPA and place your in-progress courses in the table where you can enter the anticipated grade for each course. You will see a revised cumulative GPA based on the estimates you provided.
- Q: What does the Advice Calculator show?
A: The Advice Calculator option on the GPA Calc tab will show your current GPA and earned credits. You can enter your desired GPA. Click “Calculate” and you will see the number of credits and grade required to obtain your desired GPA.
- Q: Is the calculated GPA guaranteed?
A: No. This is an estimate only.
Notes (Courses taken prior to Summer 1988)
- Q: My courses taken at JSCC prior to Summer 1988 are not satisfying any requirements on my audit.
A: Courses taken at JSCC prior to Summer 1988 are displayed near the end of the audit under the heading “Notes”. The courses are for information purposes only and the audit is not able to automatically use the courses to satisfy requirements. You may “mark up” the audit to show how the Notes courses will satisfy requirements. When you apply for graduation all appropriate “Notes” courses will be counted to satisfy graduation requirements.
